Pomona alum Isabel Kelly will share her experiences of being part of the Denver House, how she eventually broke free, how the controversy on campus affected her, and what life has been like afterwards.
Ever heard of the Denver House, the supposed “cult” that students at the 5Cs established several years ago?
Please join Isabel Kelly – former member of the Denver House and Pomona alum – on March 8th at 1:30 for a conversation and discussion of what the Denver House was, and how it (and the controversy surrounding it) affected Isabel.
Though the cult is still growing and expanding on a piece of land in Virginia with many of its founding members and central “guru,” Isabel cut ties with the cult her senior year in 2020 when students were sent home because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Numerous newspaper articles about the Denver House circulated throughout the Claremont Colleges, but none of them capture the full truth of what it was like entering the cult, living in the cult, and of course getting out.
Isabel will share her experiences of being part of the Denver House, how she eventually broke free, how the controversy on campus affected her, and what life has been like afterwards.
This event is open to all students at the Claremont Colleges. The interview will be mediated by professor Phil Zuckerman, and there will be time for questions.
